Can your darkness bring gifts?

Often times we go through things in our lives that leave scars or “baggage” that we carry along as if part of us. We spend a lifetime telling our “stories” using them as crutches to impede us from our good health, relationships, careers, etc… We even start to believe the stories ourselves. We begin to use them to dump trash into our lives affecting us and those we share our lives with. Before we know it, we have created a toxic waste dump. We have become victims in the world, rather than victors. We succumb to the dark side. The dark side represents that which is hidden from the light.
What’s that, you don’t have a dark side?

Just as there is darkness and light, the sun and the moon, yin and yang, we possess in us two sides. Don’t try and deny it, that twin is always peeking around the corner and is sometimes dishing a little dirt. You don’t think so?
What about in traffic, when that guy speeds past you in the lane that is running out and all of a sudden he jumps in front of you, after you have been patiently waiting your turn? Do you let him in? What words do you have to say to him out loud or in your head.
Maybe you try and suppress the urges of your “evil” twin, but like anything you suppress, it gets stronger.   I would like to propose to you that even the dark sides of us have something to offer. What if instead of trying to stuff the twin of jealousy, contempt, arrogance, etc… in the closet, we take in a deep breath and use this as a time to shine the light of self acceptance and forgiveness. We can ask with love what gift does this “negative” trait have to give us? What can it teach us?  The Ancient Mystic have taught us that going with the flow of the river and not against it, is one of the paths to freedom; knowing that what we resists persists.
What if the way of world peace is as simple as loving and forgiving all parts of ourselves even the darkest part?
What if the first step to your good health is to accept the need to over or under nourish yourself?
What if the first step in discovering your dream career is accepting the job you have and the morsel(s) of good that are there?
What if the first step to financial freedom is to accept being temporarily under resourced as a vacation from the material to appreciate the other areas of your life that are abundantly resourced?

I challenge you to embrace your darkness like an old friend and shine the light of love, forgiveness and acceptance on it. You may be surprised by the gifts it brings…

Until next time…

First seek inspiration and move forward with intention,

Uplifting Ursula

Thanks for reminding me about always taking that breath, and asking for the lesson in the situation. Keep on doing your thing.

I’ve choosen to 2 Day to Live! Making the decsion was a challenge being that the varies areas of personal and professional life are not exactly as I would have them to be. But the challenge is manageable as I reflect on the opportunity that the not so ideal situtations bring. Thanks Urs for the stern reminder :-)
